Marvel Rivals Spring Festival 2025: My Clash of Dancing Lions Field Notes

Marvel Rivals Spring Festival event Fortune and Colors brought Clash of Dancing Lions, Danqing rewards, and free tiers.

I still remember the night the Fortune and Colors event went live in Marvel Rivals. It was January 23, 2025, and the Spring Festival update dropped a bright, noisy, limited-time mode called Clash of Dancing Lions. If you are reading this in 2026, the event window has already closed, but my field notes are still useful if you want to understand how this festival worked, what it rewarded, and why it felt so different from a normal match.

Marvel Rivals Spring Festival event rewards and game mode

The first thing I noticed was the tone. Marvel Rivals usually pushes me toward duels, ultimates, and messy team fights. Fortune and Colors pushed me toward a blank painting, a magical dye called Danqing, and a soccer field with superheroes. The event ran from January 23 to February 14, 2025, and it mixed free rewards with store cosmetics. Some limited-time looks were shop-only, but the free track was the real hook for me. I wanted the skins, nameplates, sprays, and whatever else was hiding behind the painting.

Clash of Dancing Lions Is Not a Normal Fight

Clash of Dancing Lions is a 3v3 mode. You pick Iron Fist, Black Widow, or Star-Lord, then load into a map that looks like a soccer field. The goal is simple: grab the ball, push it through the enemy goal, and reach 12 points before the timer runs out. I went in expecting chaos, and I got it, but not the kind I was used to.

Nobody can take or deal damage in this mode. That detail changed everything for me. My usual duelist brain kept looking for picks, but there were no picks to take. Instead, I had to use abilities to disrupt the ball. Star-Lord’s Blaster Barrage, for example, can knock the ball out of an enemy’s hands. I also had to pass to teammates and kick the ball forward to relieve pressure. It felt like a weird mix of soccer, basketball, and a hero shooter, and I mean that as a compliment.

My first match was a mess. I kept chasing the ball instead of holding space, and the enemy team scored twice before I understood the rhythm. Then I started treating my abilities as tools for ball control, not damage. That was the shift. Once I stopped trying to fight and started trying to move the ball, the mode clicked.

Danqing, the Blank Painting, and the Ten Tiers

The event currency is Danqing, described as a magical dye. You earn it by completing event missions and challenges, and you also get it by playing Clash of Dancing Lions. Then you use the dye on the blank painting on the event page to unlock tiers of rewards. I liked that loop because it made the event page feel like part of the game instead of a menu I ignored.

The free track has 10 rewards, and unlocking all of them costs 1,000 Danqing. That number mattered to me because it forced me to plan. I could not just play one match and expect everything. I had to check the missions tab, finish challenges, and keep an eye out for new tasks that appeared later in the event. Some of those tasks also gave Chrono Tokens, which was a nice extra.

What I Learned From the Festival

By the end of the event, I had a routine. I would check the missions tab first, then play a few Clash of Dancing Lions matches, then spend Danqing on the painting. The mode was short enough that I could squeeze in a match when I did not have time for a full competitive set. It also gave me a break from the usual damage-focused mindset. I had to communicate, pass, and use abilities in ways that felt almost supportive.

Here is my short list of takeaways:

  • 🏮 The mode is about ball control, not eliminations.

  • 🎨 Danqing is earned through missions and matches.

  • 🖼️ The blank painting is the reward track, and it has 10 tiers.

  • 🎁 You need 1,000 Danqing to unlock every free reward.

  • 🛒 Some Spring Festival cosmetics were store-only, so the free track was not the whole event.

  • ⏳ New challenges appeared during the event, so checking the missions tab was important.

In 2026, the Fortune and Colors event is no longer live, so I would not tell anyone to rush into Marvel Rivals expecting to farm Danqing today. But as a snapshot of a limited-time festival, it is a great example of how the game mixes modes, currency, and cosmetics. I came for the free rewards, stayed for the strange soccer matches, and left with a new appreciation for a mode where nobody can deal damage. That is a rare thing in a hero shooter, and it is why Clash of Dancing Lions still sticks with me.
